Homemade Acne Treatment

Post 1 of 0

Acne is a skin disease that affects both teenagers and adults, and it has boggled scientists’ and dermatologists’ minds for decades to find suitable cures. There is little we can do to prevent acne, because it can appear as a result of hormone imbalance – which explains its presence among teens in puberty –, genetic inheritance, poor hygiene and many others. Fortunately, there are treatments out there that help us tone down the effects of acne or entirely cure it. You can consult with a dermatologist and ask for medical treatments, or you can try a homemade acne treatment if your case is not too grave.

The most important homemade acne treatment is to keep a balanced diet and an overall healthy lifestyle. A regular intake of vitamins and proper hygiene can help reduce the effects of acne on the skin. Wash your face regularly, once in the morning and once before going to bed, using mild cleansers, toners and moisturizers fit for sensitive skin. A great homemade acne treatment is honey, which you can simply apply on the face and neck once or twice a week. You leave the honey mask on for ten to fifteen minutes, and then gently wash off with warm water.

Sugar is a nice and natural scrubber, so you can ca use it to replace consumer or pharmaceutical products. Scrub a bit of sugar on your wet face with gentle and ample movements, careful not to damage or break the skin; rinse off with cold water and repeat this process for a few weeks, or until you see the results. Potatoes are another homemade acne treatment. Take a potato and grate it, or slice it thinly. Apply uniformly on the face and wait for it to absorb the excess oils and dirt; it is also a good remedy against wrinkles, puffy eyes, dark circles and blemishes.

Fresh orange peel applied directly to the affected areas will also do wonders. You can even grind the peel and mix it with a bit of water; apply the resulted mix on the face and wait for 20 or 30 minutes, then rinse. Vitamin C in general is good for the skin’s health and elasticity, so you can also use lemon juice to get rid of impurities and sebum. You can mix some lemon juice with cucumber juice and rose water and apply on the face with the help of cotton balls or pads. This will act like a toner and tighten the skin and pores.
